The brief
Feitoria do Cacao asked us for the web development of the company's website, with an online shop included. The same project covered all of the stationery production and the production and application of advertising vinyl graphics.
The brief was to translate a handmade product onto the screen. Chocolate made by hand lives on its raw materials, its process and its time, and that doesn't come across in a product grid that looks like any other shop's. There was also the physical side: what shows in the shop window, on the packaging and in the printed materials had to say exactly the same thing as the website.
The approach
We designed a more rustic, handcrafted interface, away from the standardised look of online shops, and built a bespoke browsing experience, adapted to the reality of the business rather than to a generic template. The catalogue, checkout process and order management were built on that same foundation, so buying never interrupted the reading of the brand.
The graphic design followed the same language: the stationery and the vinyl graphics applied in the space grew out of the choices made for the website, so anyone walking into the shop and anyone visiting the website recognise the same brand.
